GHANAIANS ELECT A NEW PRESIDENT.
After over 57 hours of the 2016 general election of Ghana ,the electoral commission with Madam Charlotte Osei as it's chairperson after collating results from 271 constituencies out 275 has declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party ,as the winner and the President Elect of Republic of Ghana.
Out of the 271 constituencies results collated Nana Akufo-Addo had
5,716,026 votes which amounts to 53.85% and President John Mahama had 4,713, 277 which is 44.40%.In all,president elect ,Nana Akufo-Addo swoop 153 constituencies as against 114 of outgoing president John Mahama ,out of the 275 constituencies.
The total registered voter's for 2016 general election is 15,712,499, the voter turnout is 10,781,917 which represents 68.62%.Out of this, the valid vote cast was 10,615,361 with 166,248 rejected votes.Total votes declared by the electoral commission is 10,781,609 ,thus the 271 constituencies out of the 275.Also, the Npp has won majority in parliament with a difference over 50 seat against Ndc. They retained majority of their seats and took over 50 seats from the Ndc as well from Greater Accra Region across the country to Upper West Region.
The Npp maintained they have they have won the election after 8 hours of closing of the election till the time the EC declared.One will ask, what happened to the over voting issue claims by the EC and the Ndc??well. thats for the EC to decide.
Change was the Npp's Theme for this election and it's obvious majority of Ghanaians bought and they have had their change.
