Planning and going for picnics or holidays together?Planning your future and taking steps in making it happen? Walking by the roadside holding hands? Those special moment you spend on valentine's day,exchanging gifts etc sleeping in his arms ,having her cook for you ?etc

1.Past Experience:The kind of relationship an individual had in the past could set the fellow to stay away from relationships.A lot of people have had bad relationships.some have been physically and emotionally been abused and these scare them from going into another relationship with the thought of it happening again.Bad relationships kill people's interest in relationship.They see all relationship to be the same.Some bad relationships people could experience includes physical abuse,painful heartbreaks especially when the individual has given so much into the relationship,being cheated on,disrespected and disregarded on regular bases etc All these have psychological effect on the individual and without much counseling could either urge him/her to stay away from a relationship for a long time or forever .They will become settled,they will see relationship as something not meant for them.The thought of getting used and dumped will be seared in their minds forever and hence the single life.
2.Experiences from friends or relatives & Trauma:These cannot be exempted from some of the reasons why people choose to be single.People witnessing the kind of ordeal their friends or relatives go through can deter them from going into a relationship.It can seriously have an impact on them.The idea of them experiencing the same fate as them could discourage them from having a bite.Also,how people saw their mums being treated by their fathers or vice versa could kill their interest in relationship.With a girl who constantly witnessed her mum being abused by his dad,growing up the affection towards men will die because such experiences could paint a mental picture in her mind seeing relationship to be all about abuse.Also when a person suffers a sexual abuse in her childhood,the trauma that person will go through could motivate her to have a strong dislike for men .
3.They feel comfortable or happier being single:Some people are relationship as stressful.being in relationship binds an individual to a lot things which they might not feel comfortable with but give in for the sake of their partners.Being single gives some freedom to what they like whenever and however.These people don't see relationship as a happiness seeking entity and prefers using their single lifestyle to work on themselves and dedicate enough time to work on their future.
4.Career Obsession : Some individuals are career freaks.Their career is their partner. people who are so focus on their career turn a blind eye on relationships.They don't have time for commitment.Will rather use the time to work on their career.They see their career to yield tangible dividends to than than a partner.
5.Ego: An individual's ego can prevent him?her from being in a relationship .Some people see themselves in certain ways that they are not ready to modify their life to suit others or ready succumb to anyone.Apparently ,no one wants to be with an egotistical person and they themselves know.For them not to have friction in their relationship all the time and not ready to settle for anyone they will choose the single life.
